WE TEACH THE LINDY HOP!

A vintage social dance powered by the soundtrack of Big Band Swing.
If you can have fun and smile at the same time, you're halfway there -
just like it was in the 1930's, the music will take care of the rest!

Drop-in classes every Tuesday at North Perth Town Hall
6:30pm - Level 1: Beginners welcome every week!
7:30pm - Level 2: Now we're really dancing!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF HISTORY

Lindy Hop was created by the African-American people and

communities of Harlem, NYC. Perth City Swing recognises the importance

of preserving, cultivating and celebrating the roots of this historical dance.

MEET THE TEACHING TEAM

Gemma J Frampton - Owner

Gemma's Lindy Hop journey began way back when in 2010. Since then, she has performed with multiple dance troupes and swung out on dance floors across the globe chasing the wide eyed smiles and good times that this phenomenal dance never fails to deliver.

Gemma has been been teaching since 2014 and loves to bring as much fun, passion, personality and knowledge as possible to whatever room she's in!

Kelly 600x600

Kelly Wells

Kelly began swing dancing in 2015 when she was dragged to a class by some friends and she can honestly say that she’s been hooked ever since!

The dance, the music and the wonderful community it engages quickly had her dancing every night of the week, both at classes and out on the social floor.  She soon joined a performance troupe and began teaching in 2018. This dance has brought so much joy into Kelly's life, she just loves that she gets to share it!

Luke Healy

Luke's swing dancing journey started in March 2016 at a free intro class at our very own North Perth Town Hall and he hasn't stopped dancing since!

In 2018 he joined Perth's Savoy Stomp performance team and a year later he started teaching.

A lover of tap and solo jazz, Luke is full of fun and playful footwork. His warmth and relaxing energy as a teacher is an asset to every class he teaches!

Josh Pcs Bw 600x600

Josh Wells

Josh conquered his first swing dance class in 2016. He's the first to confess that he was instantly addicted and just two days and another class later he was cutting a rug on the social dance floor!

Josh has been teaching since 2019 and is a popular DJ in the Perth Swing Dancing scene. He loves nothing more than to nerd out about all things Lindy Hop and the authentic Big Band swing music that drives it!

THE FINER DETAILS

When and where are classes?
You can find us every Tuesday from 6.30pm at North Perth Town Hall, 26 View Street, North Perth
No booking required, just drop in on the night!

How much does it cost?
The price for a single class is $20, or you can enjoy 5 classes for the price of 4 with our $80 Class Pass!

What should I bring?
A water bottle, comfy shoes, a sweat towel, and a smile! On a hot night a change of shirt is recommended.

Do I need to bring a partner?
Not at all but the more the merrier! Lindy Hop is a social dance, we rotate partners throughout
each class so that everyone can enjoy dancing with each other.

How does it work?
Level 1 is a 5 week syllabus made for beginners! Each week covers a fundamental part of the dance required for Level 2
and we repeat the same syllabus every 5 weeks. Start any week, in any order - your Level 1 journey starts when you do!

Level 2 is our intermediate class, building on the basics learned in Level 1.
Playing with rhythm, delving into technique - this is where the dance really comes alive!

I have danced [insert dance style] before, can I skip the beginner lessons?
If you have danced before, you will understand how important knowing the fundamentals are, not only
for your safety but that of your partner. The decision for a student to go to Level 2 before
completing our Level 1 Syllabus is at the sole discretion of the teachers.
